Saturday Drive to Sebring, Florida

Sometimes it's just great to get away from the rat race of the Big City.  You can't beat a breezy day in under a shady oak tree where you pretty much have the park to yourself and you can hear yourself think.   Peace, quiet, no tech toys.  Just good food with some good friends.

Wish that Dad could have joined us.   Kendrick and Jess were with him until the very last days.  Those are  your real friends.  The next big adventure will be the cruise. Still a whole lot of living left.

2 sandhill cranes cross the street on our drive back from Sebring.     These birds are a little more rare in the South Florida area.   We've got more of the herons, which I also like.

I named this one:  Down on the Farm.    We stopped by one of Kendricks old friends from the 90's who lived on a farm that use to have lots of orange groves.  It's a pretty peaceful place with a big lake.  Again, peace and quiet before the long drive home.

I seriously thought about bringing both my cameras.  My Fuji X100s
but I ended up bring my trusty Nikon D3300.  I figure I'd probably need the zoom in case I ran into some wildlife where I needed to get up close.  Click the link below if you're interested in getting a great camera:

North Florida Afternoon

Beach Wood - A June afternoon overlooking the dunes and Atlantic in North Florida.

The shark activity isn't quite what it is in other beaches, but further down the road in Central Florida, that can be quite a  different story.

Track 2 B&W from the Rails

Capturing a  morning at the tracks. I've always had a fascination for stations and trains.  I particularly love the depth view of tracks. This was an extremely bright morning, and quite a challenge keeping the light under control.
